Epernay – Sprinters Get Ready!
We’re leaving the Champagne region on the fifth stage of Tour de France, 2010. Starting in Epernay, the riders will pass the hills of the region, on the way through Brie and Gatinais, to Montargis. In 1963, Epernay was the finish of the first stage. Since then, the race has started in Epernay twice, before this 2010 stage start. The town offers few hotels directly in the vicinity, so you may have to look around some if you want to stay near the start of stage five. Consider staying in Montargis as an alternative, and see the likely sprint finish.
