Reims – Fourth Stage Finish worth a visit
The city of Reims hosts the finish of the fourth stage or Tour de France 2010. This ancient city was founded by the Gauls, and became an important city in the age of the Roman Empire. Reims has many things to offer to visitors, one of the most notable being the Notre Dame de Reims cathedral. The city also has twin-city status with a number of world cities – among them Canterbury, in the UK. 4th Stage of Tour de France 2010 starts in Cambrai
Cambrai, second time a stage town, is home to some 30,000 inhabitants. The town was founded in Roman times, and has a history of significant events through the years. Last time Cambrai hosted the start of a Tour de France stage was in 2004, when Lance Armstrong was able to obtain the yellow jersey from Robbie McEwen in a 60 km time trial. This time it’s a short stage – 150 km – finishing in Reims (Champagne-Ardenne). The stage finish should provide a mass sprint, as there are no major hurdles on the stage, but those more interested in the start of the race can stay in a hotel in or near Cambrai. Brussels – Goal of Stage 1 in Tour de France 2010
Brussels is the site of the goal for the first stage of Tour de France in 2010. The riders reach the Belgian capital at the end of a 228 km long, flat stage, starting in Rotterdam. As a Tour de France fan, it’s very much worth considering going to Brussels on July 4th, to see the Tour de France riders spurt for the goal in Brussels.
