Wanze – Start of the Third Stage Cobblestone Classic
A certain highlight of the first week of the Tour de France, 2010, is the third stage cobblestone challenge. Cobblestones haven’t been negotiated in the Tour since 2004, and before that only three times in the eighties. This is the first time that Wanze, Belgium participates as a stage town, although local fans know it well from the annual Ardennes Classic. Situated in the Belgian Liege region, it should bring out the masses of cycling fans to cheer on the riders. See the start of stage three around 12:30 in Wanze, or move farther down the stage for the 13 km stretches of cobblestones closer to the finish, in France (Arenberg – Porte du Hainaut). Brussels – Goal of Stage 1 in Tour de France 2010
Brussels is the site of the goal for the first stage of Tour de France in 2010. The riders reach the Belgian capital at the end of a 228 km long, flat stage, starting in Rotterdam. As a Tour de France fan, it’s very much worth considering going to Brussels on July 4th, to see the Tour de France riders spurt for the goal in Brussels.
